Gate-A-Mation
Gate-A-Mation was the first Gate Automation business in South Australia, with the name established in 1992, but with several installations dating back to 1989. We are a Gate Automation company. We don't offer fencing or gate manufacturing, but we do work with some of the best fencing companies in South Australia to bring you Safe, Secure & Dependable automation.
Every single employee is an A Class Electrician and because of our commitments to NDIS and Elderly schemes every employee has a National Police Clearance on file.
What we do
Swing Gate Automation
Our range of swing gate automation is second to none. Unlike many of our competitiors in the marketplace, we have never found the need to specialize (or we would say, limit) ourselves to just one brand. We offer swing gate automation from six major brands to ensure that we always have the exact right model on offer when the need arises. Not all systems are great in every single circumstance, and that is where the knowledge and experience of a dealer principal who worked on his first automation system in 1990 comes into play. You don’t need to find out the hard way what is a good or bad system. We have done those hard yards and can often make selections based on over thirty years of real world, onsite, data.
Geography. Another very important factor. We have conducted thousands of installations in South Australia, from Murray Bridge to Ceduna. From Sellicks Beach to Port Augusta. We know what we are looking at when it comes to local weather and how that will change how much or how little will be required to automate your gates.
Sliding Gate Automation
Over the many years we have been in business we have been constantly innovating with regards to sliding gate automation. We have sampled motors from all over the world and we offer the benefit of our knowledge to every customer we work for. We have also been behind the scenes working with many gate manufacturers to perfect the gate and motor system as a whole. The Goal? To arrive at painless, perfect operation with little to no down time over decades of lifespan.
The greatest advantage of sliding gate automation is not space saving as you would imagine – but they do give you that. It is site safety. Sliding gates are now amongst the safest devices to be found in your home or at your workplace thanks to advanced electronics and pedantic installation practice. It may save you from a brush with the car. But more importantly your children, your friends and you, are perfectly safe in the presence of advanced automation that can push up to many tonnes of gate around.
One of our specialties is the quick and painless replacement of sliding gate motors. We can generally replace a failed motor within a day or two for you, to get you back to where you need to be.
Controls
We offer a myriad of control options to access your property, whether it be your home, your castle, your business site or your facility. Ultra secure remote controls that can’t be copied, access tags, numeric keypads and the latest in mobile phone receivers. We also offer passive entry and egress options such as induction loops. Whether you need one remote control with one button (for the easily befuddled) or hundreds of secure remotes with 5 buttons, we offer them all with ease.

Origins
Gate-A-Mation started out as a part time business in early 1990, run by Ron Fergusson.
In 1992, demand for gate automation products had increased sufficiently for Ron to start retailing gate automation equipment full time, and the name Gate-A-Mation was coined to identify the company’s core business.
One of the early slogans Ron used was “Our prices are always the dearest – that’s why we have so many satisfied customers”.
In 1994, dissatisfied with varying standards of installation work from sub-contractors, Gate-A-Mation entered into negotiations with Advanced Home Systems Pty Ltd (AHSPL), an electrical contracting firm founded by Tom & Fiona McCurdy, to be the sole installers of Gate-A-Mation products.
From 1994, AHSPL continued to work alongside Ron until his retirement in early 2006. Because of the longstanding arrangement between the two companies, it was decided that AHSPL would purchase Gate-A-Mation outright.
Our Aim
Our aim is to continue the ethos that Ron Fergusson established by selling the best possible products with the best possible backing. Sadly Ron passed away a few short years after his retirement. It has been our commitment to his principles that has led us to continual improvement and innovation over time. Many companies undersell us, no-one outdoes us.
One of the key markers that we are doing things right is that most of the associated fencing companies that we work for are companies that we have worked with for over a decade and some even stretch to two decades of loyal patronage. In addition many of the private customers that we have worked for have called us back in to automate second and even third properties.
“It is of paramount importance to us that ten years from now, you will still consider that the money you spent with Gate-A-Mation was money well spent.”

I write to thank you for the outstanding job you and Alex completed yesterday installing our automated gates. You are an extremely professional organisation, discussed all aspects of the job, explained the features and operational procedures clearly. In fact your approach to your work is efficient and you left the site/job cleaner than when you arrived, True Professionals.

“I wish to thank you and your staff for the wonderful communication, service, and professionalism your company has provided me with the installation of the gate automation and intercom system.
You constantly kept me informed on the installation date and when you advised me that the installers would be at my home at 9.15am yesterday that is the exact time they turned up!
The two installers yesterday are a huge asset to your company and please pass on my appreciation to them both for doing such a brilliant job. The two guys kept me informed through the whole installation process and left the worksite spotlessly clean and they did a very comprehensive explanation of how everything works.
It is not often I have come across a company that has offered such exceptional overall high standards so a big thanks to you and your staff.” 20/02/2009
